Frequently Asked Questions
What is Occupational Therapy and how can it help?
Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy (CAOT) defines Occupational Therapy as “type of health care that helps to solve the problems that interfere with a person’s ability to do the things that are important to them – everyday things like:
-
Self-care - getting dressed, eating, moving around the house,
-
Being productive - going to work or school, participating in the community, and
-
Leisure activities - sports, gardening, social activities.”

Occupational Therapists work with the person to identify the physical, environmental, and mental barriers limiting their ability to do the things that are important to them. A plan is created that may include gaining skills to help overcome the disability, recommending changes to the environment, or adapting the materials used.
Do you provide ICBC services?

If you have been injured in a motor vehicle incident (MVI), Occupational Therapists at Function Focus can complete comprehensive assessments and work closely with other health care professionals to assist you in your recovery. We can complete Personal Care Assessments to determine the need for homemaking and personal care assistance services. We can help with pain management, concussion recovery, and return to work services. Check out our services to learn more about each.
