Concussion
Whether you or someone you know have suffered a concussion (mild traumatic brain injury), or a moderate, or severe brain injury, Occupational Therapists are skilled at providing cognitive rehabilitation and guiding individuals through their brain injury recovery. At Function Focus, we have a breadth of knowledge on external and internal strategies to help manage symptoms and assist with strategies to help people gradually return to their daily activities and work.

We are also trained as CogMed coaches and BrainFx assessors.
Mental Health
Occupational Therapists are essential at helping someone with recovery from a mental health condition. We provide education and strategies for managing anxiety and depressive symptoms, and help individuals with stress and burn out management. We help clients explore strategies for healthy living, such as healthy eating, sleeping, exercise, and engagement in social and leisure activities. We work alongside psychologists and counsellors and are trained in exposure therapy for post-traumatic stress conditions. At Function Focus, we are also certified in the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP), prolonged exposure (PE), and exposure therapy, as well as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) interventions.
Chronic Pain and Other Conditions
Chronic pain and other health conditions can lead to loss of important roles and activities, sleep problems, and depression. Occupational Therapists are trained in assessment and treatment that promotes quality of life and autonomy with meaningful daily activities. We can provide education on the neurophysiology of pain, symptom self-management, ergonomics and safe body movements. Interventions are individualized but will likely include learning about your condition, realistic activity goal setting, pacing and planning strategies, adapting your environment and activities, equipment prescription and more.
Home and Mobility
At Function Focus, we are skilled at assessing people in their homes and providing recommendations for home modifications, aging in place, and equipment for safety, energy conservation, and falls prevention purposes. If you have questions about renovations, equipment for a loved one, or when recovering from an injury, please contact us to see how we can assist you.

We are also skilled at completing seating assessments and determining the best mobility device! Occupational Therapists at Function Focus are experienced at completing scooter, manual wheelchair and power wheelchair assessments. We provide a justification or recommendation letters to ICBC, MCFD, or other funding sources. Occupational Therapists can also educate clients on how to properly use their mobility device in their home and community.
Workplace and Ergonomics
We are skilled at conducting job site visits at a variety of workplaces and providing recommendations on gradual return to work plans, accommodations within the workplace, and ergonomics. If you are having questions or looking at returning to work, contact us and we will see how we can best support you.

Our Occupational Therapists will liaise with the accessibility department at your school to determine available supports and recommend accommodations for a successful return to and/or stay at school.

We are also skilled in completing ergonomic assessments for individuals in their home, school, work, or office settings. Ergonomic assessments help prevent repetitive strain injuries, and provide skills for coping with existing discomforts, injuries, and conditions. Contact us for more information!
